Are you wondering how mom bloggers are making enough money to become stay at home moms?
Three years ago I had the same thoughts as you. I was nearing the end of my pregnancy, and I already knew I wanted nothing more than to be a stay at home mom.
I, however, would not be able to stay home with my son if I did not find a way to bring in some money.
So I pulled out my computer and started doing research on how to make money from home. I came across A LOT of different options, most of them either being pretty sketchy or in the area of completing surveys.
I eventually stumbled upon a bunch of people talking about starting blogs. WHAT?!
How can creating a blog earn me any money, let alone enough money to be able to become a stay at home mom?
I had to look into this further, and so I did, and now three years later, I run three successful blogs and make enough money to be able to stay home with my son!
Sooo how did I do it? How is it possible to run a mom blog and make money?
Follow along, my dear, and I will teach you the ways.

How To Make Money With a Mom Blog
First things first, you NEED to set up a professional, self-hosted blog.
Not there yet? No problem!
Head over to this post on starting a blog.
Now that you have your blog all set up, it’s time to learn how to make money with it!
affiliate marketing is a great passive way to earn money with your mom blog. Even if you are new to blogging.
What exactly is affiliate marketing?
An agreement with an online retailer to pay you a commission for promoting their product. So basically you talk about a product that you use and love, add a link to that product, and if someone clicks on that link and purchases the product you earn a commission from it.
The product can be anything from a physical product to a digital product.
If you are running a mom blog and talking about parenting, you can promote profits like:
- Car seats and other types of baby gear
- Diaper rash creams
- Breastfeeding supplies
- Products for toddlers (craft supplies, mealtime products, etc..)
These are just some examples of the many things you can have an affiliate link for on your blog.
How do you get started using affiliate links?
You have to either sign up with a big affiliate network or reach out to companies that you would like to work with.
It is easier to sign up with bigger affiliate networks because they do all the leg work for you. But you have the potential to earn a bigger commission when working with a brand directly.
Affiliate networks to sign up with
One of the most popular affiliate networks is ShareASale. Once you sign up with them, you will have to apply to each retailer individually.
Within the ShareASale platform, these are good affiliates to apply with :
There are a lot more retailers to sign up with, but those listed above will help you get started.
Becoming an Amazon Associate is seriously awesome if you are a mom blogger. Because were are mom’s most likely going to be shopping? With Amazon Prime of course!
With Amazon Associate, you can create an affiliate link for almost every single product sold on Amazon.
CJ Affiliate is very similar to ShareASale. Each of these affiliate networks works with different brands.
Retailers to apply with:
- Burts Bees
There is a $5 dollar sign up fee with Awin, but you will get it back when you receive your first payment.
Retailers to apply with
- Under Armour
- Peggy Buy
If there are baby products you use and love, try reaching out to those companies individually and see if they will set you up with an affiliate link.
Creating and selling digital products are a great way to make money on your blog.
If you have a topic you have a lot of knowledge about, you can very easily create an ebook and sell it directly from your blog to your email list, or on Amazon.
Topics for ebooks for your mom blog are:
- potty training
- time management for working mom
- the list can go on
Any of the topics listed above you can also create an online course instead of an ebook.
Online courses are very popular and they are a great way to earn a bigger income since you can charge more for an ecourse than an ebook.
If you have an eye for graphic design you can create products like:
- pregnancy planners
- baby shower invites
- birth announcements
These are also products you can sell directly on your blog and Etsy.
It doesn’t hurt to apply to an ad network right in the beginning. You may only start out earning pennies a day, but those pennies soon add up. Also if you have a post that turns viral in the beginning, you will want to be collecting on ad revenue from that as well.
The more traffic you bring in the more revenue you can make with ads. To gain more traffic, make sure you are writing content that readers are interested in.
Topics that are popular for mom blogs are:
- How to post (How to potty train)
- Tutorials (Crafts for toddlers, decluttering play areas)
- List post (10 things to back in your diaper bag)
Right from the beginning, you should be collecting emails. You subscribers are joining your email list for a reason, they value your thoughts. Your email list is a great place to use your affiliate links or send them early access to your ebooks. There are plenty of ways to make money with your email list.
Just make sure when you are writing to your list, that you are authentic and only tell them about the products you use and love. This will ensure you keep your readers trust.
If you are just starting out with your mom blog, Mailerlite is a great free email marketing platform.
There are so many possibilities to earn money with your mom blog. You just need to come up with a plan and implement it. Try not to do everything at once, that is an easy way to become burnt out.
Also, remember running a profitable blog takes perseverance. You are not going to make money overnight, and for some, they may not even see money start flowing in until after the first year. But don’t give up, keep at it, and you will start to see your success.
